95-03 Miniature LSU Band

Louisiana Living is proud to present a very hard to find gift featuring the All-American Golden Band from Tigerland in minature.

Louisiana State University formed its own musical organization in 1893 thanks to two student cadets. Averaging thirteen members through its formative years, the band now boasts of more than 320 members today. In the 1930's it was Louisiana's famous populist governor Huey P. Long who took a personal interest in the LSU Band and set it on a course for national prominence. Governor Long supervised many aspects of the bands image and saw to it that they trade in their military dress for a showy stadium presence and introduced the LSU bands to its current colors of purple and gold. It wasn't until 1959 that a signature feature named the Ballet Corps, later named the LSU Golden Girl Dance Line, was added to the band.

This 17 piece set includes one drum major, two golden girls, two color guard flag girls, one piccolo, one saxophone, one clarinet, one mellophone, one marching baritone, one trumpet, one trombone, one sousaphone, one cymbal, one tenor drum (five headed), one snare drum, and one bass drum.

All figures are 54 millimeters (approximately two and a quarter inches tall), made of white metal, sculpted, cast and hand painted in England. Each set comes in a custom box with foam inserts for added protection.
